Austin is projected to double in size by the year 2025, in an article published by the Austin Business Journal dated June 2,2009. Some forecasts that the Austin-Round Rock area will grow nearly 87 percent from its 2005 estimated population of nearly 1.5 million to a 2025 projected population of 2.7 million, an increase of nearly 1.3 million residents. With a healthy economic forecast the Austin Texas area will continue to see new homes being built and new subdivisions opening. Although not as active as two years ago when the whole nation was booming in the housing market Austin has maintained a steady growth rate.
